About. Kristina Kashirskaya — Fine Art Photography

Kristina Kashirskaya
Fine art photographer · Belgrade

Kristina Kashirskaya is a fine art photographer based in Belgrade. With a background in psychology, she treats the frame as a space for psychological observation: she captures not poses but metamorphoses — the fractured lines of inner experience and the borderline states in which a person changes for good. She is the lead visual artist of CY4NIX events.

I work with staged black and white photography, exploring psychological pressure, emotional survival and how a personality takes shape through crisis.

I am drawn to anxiety, loneliness, inner conflict and grief — and to the moment when a person has to put themselves back together after loss or betrayal. My work is not about the trauma itself, but about the transformation that follows: resistance, adaptation, the forming of character.

A recurring theme in my practice is the conflict between external constraints and inner freedom. I look at how modern reality isolates people from one another, and how, under these conditions, genuine closeness, friendship and emotional attachment become a form of resistance.

I build my images through performative situations rather than traditional portraiture. I create emotional or symbolic conditions and observe how a person exists inside them, physically and psychologically. The body becomes a language for states that are hard to put into words.

I work exclusively in black and white, removing the distraction of colour to focus on tension, gesture, light, texture and emotional presence.
